So I’ve been sick for sometime now. House arrest for a month!!
When you are a 19 years old 2nd year Engineering student, if not the sickness, the stress of missing exams, labs, assignments and maybe failing the semester is enough to kill you!!
And being Stuck at home, not moving around much hardly takes your mind off things. I’ve watched more TV and read more magazines in a few weeks than I’ve in a few years.
And something is common in all these.
WOMEN IN DISTRESS.
Yes women degradation is not a new concept. Media objectification, law discrimination, social humiliation and both physical and mental mutilation.
Will propagandizing women vulnerability make world a better place??
Will advertising how easy it is to violate a woman, help the society??
Yes we need the awareness. We need the protests. But making it an obvious fact that all rapists’ll go unpunished only acts as ‘INSPIRATIONAL AND SICK FANTASY STORIES’ to these filthy psychopaths.
Highlighting facts where a woman made the lives of her perpetrators a living hell, scares rapists more than news channels covering ‘Candle Marches’ in memory of a woman.
But then protests should also be meaningful and reasonable. Feminism doesn’t mean blaming even the mosquitoes for biting women. I saw this on a Women Empowerment page in Facebook a couple of days back.
I don’t see what feminism or sexism has got anything to do with in reference to the above post.
A man walking in frilly backless strapless mini frock won’t be laughed because people consider ‘feminity’ to be degrading. But because it would just look weird to many people, something out of ordinary.
The world doesn’t hate women. It loves feminity. Just that sometimes some PERVS consider women to be weak. And trust me every day women are proving that wrong.
If ‘feminity’ was laughed upon then people would even ridicule girls wearing skirts.
Women and men physicality is different. Additionally women need to cover the chest portion. So clothes are designed accordingly. And most of the times the cuts and stitches are in a way to match the body curves.
Similarly, men clothes are also designed according to their proportions and muscles.
So yes most women clothes would look odd on a muscular male body.
It has nothing to do with considering ‘feminity’ to be degrading.
In my country there are not many crossdressers.
So this post seemed very interesting as the concept was totally new to me and I noticed a drastic difference of mentality between Western countries and India.
In India if people spot a crossdresser they’ll quietly comment among themselves, ‘Psycho Sala’ meaning ‘psycho jerk’ and move on.
But in western countries many people support crossdressing. They justify it. While others aggressively hate it.
There mostly women are in favour of it while many men actually beat up guys dressed as girls. Now that is being a complete jerk.
I myself have not seen much crossdressers. So obviously I’m not in favor of STRAIGHT men walking around in skirts and padded bras.
But NO ONE has the right to beat up people.
Opinions vary from country to country. Person to person.
Nowadays we still find traditional wear in Bhutan, Africa and China looking like skirts and dresses. But these clothes are mainly designed for men. The cut is a bit different than women clothes.
Previously royal men used to wear heels. But in 1800s during ‘Industrial Revolution’ slowly everyone shifted to CONVENIENT and COMFORTABLE clothes. THE TROUSERS.
Within the next century most women were also wearing trousers.
So men not wearing women’s clothes has nothing to do with ‘degrading feminity.’ Its about convenience in movement and habit.
Being a girl, I dress in feminine clothes as well as trousers and no guy or girl has ever made me feel ‘weak’ or ‘inferior’.
In the comments section below the post some girl had asked me ‘Why should women at all cover their chests?? They don’t need to. Its the media sexualization that makes people stare.’
Yes media is responsible for degrading women in many ways.
But dressing up has nothing to do with sexism or feminism.
Its about CIVILIZATION and RATIONALIZATION. Do we need to go back to the primitive age??
People started wearing clothes to protect against the weather. But with development it became associated with professionalism, beauty and DECENCY.
There’s no harm in accepting your womanhood and dressing accordingly. No man or woman should run naked on the streets.
Because we are CIVILIZED. There should be some formality and aesthetic sense.
And Presidents, kings, queens, sports men and women addressing the mass naked hardly seems to be a very fetching idea.
If students start attending classes naked, professors come to class naked….the whole system would collapse.
So protesting about every random unnecessary thing hoping to bring women empowerment is not gonna make the world a better place.
That day I understood the difference between feminists and ‘fem-nazis’.
Thousands of years women physicality has been romanticized. And no its not same as being ‘objectified’.
Attraction is not a tug of war between hearts. Its a game of hormones generated by brain impulses. Which gets triggered by release of ‘DOPAMINE’.
And a good appearance means healthy genes and a strong next generation. So there is nothing wrong with attraction among the sexes.
Its only an evolutionary prank.
But that doesn’t mean you go around groping women. That is pathetic and should be seriously punished.
Controlling your instincts is what sets you apart from animals. No forgiveness at that.
Don’t the protests need to be a bit more logical and meaningful? Like advertising special Women’s rights given in the constitution, NGOs, women shelters and helplines. Information that can actually help a woman in distress. Something that gives her courage and motivation to fight.
Protesting for the right to go topless or burning bras is not gonna stop domestic violence, abuse and other sick crimes against women.
Life can’t be lived to the fullest holding a grudge on the whole male species. Due to some PERV low lives, thinking all men to be enemies and everything to be an effect of sexism is not worth it.
Why not just live ur life in a relaxed chilled out way…..and if anyone tries to impose chauvinism just punch them on the face, figuratively….. or literally if ever needed.
You can’t lose out on life thinking that somewhere some man is waiting to oppress you.
Life is about having fun. And in the process trying to make world a better place.
