The Royal son-in-law

Recently I saw something very interesting on Facebook. A guy from our school has got engaged to someone from one of the Royal families of the country.

He, let’s call him Patty, was our Head boy and the school football team captain.
My friends LOVED him. Crazy about him.

He also had a girlfriend, we’ll call her Bitty. Patty and Bitty were in final year of high school while we were the youngest batch in Secondary section.

Bitty was one of those girls whose every sentence started with ‘aww’ and ended with “awwww’. And apparently she found me very ‘awwww-ey’.

Bitty would come rushing and shake me up pull my nose, face, cuddle me and would say, ‘Oh my god look at her tiny hair clips!!’ or ‘Awww look at Sweetie Pie’s tiny earrings, look at her eyebrows, sweetie say cheese, awwww’.

She was extremely affectionate towards me. And I loved it. Because I never had any brother or sister. And I felt very protected to be adored by the most powerful seniors of school.

Patty would always be around. He was probably the most popular guy in the history of our school.

As usual we weren’t allowed to wear nail polish in school. And had to keep our uniforms and in order. But everyday I used to throw my bag and run in the school playground  before the morning assembly. And my uniform would get messed up, specially the shoes.

But Patty, being the Head Boy never punished me. While others would get detained in line.

Couple of times after weekend I forgot to remove my polish and would slowly take out my hands from my pockets and smile.

Patty would narrow his eyes and let me go. But other ‘offenders’ had to face the wraith of our Asst. Principal. SCARY!!

Everyone knew he overlooked all my faults coz his girlfriend loved me. lol 😉

Funny, my friends got very jealous. Including my ‘Best Friend’. She actually turned pretty hostile.

But whenever I went to visit Bitty, almost all girls of my class would go with me as well. Bitty would appreciate my cuteness while they would appreciate Patty’s. 😉

Sometimes my friends would literally drag me to them.

To me they were the PERFECT shining couple. I loved to see them together.

But they broke up. Bitty was shattered. She didn’t know that Patty was just ‘Time Passing’.

She became extremely quiet for the rest of the year while Patty roamed in the corridors captivating everyone with his boyish laughs.

He started dating the girls Volleyball team Captain. They broke up after sometime. Ironically we lost the next volleyball match. We have hardly ever lost before.

He started dating another girl next month and a different one the month after.
So basically behind that kind face he was quite a jerk!!

They passed out that year. Bitty went to Hungary to complete her studies. Patty went to Germany.

But Karma got him.

I saw him in Kfc 2 years back. I was in 1st year of college. And I was shocked.

Patty was going bald. He had become extremely muscular….like on steroids. And was too tanned to be cool. He had lost all his good looks.

He’s holding a good post in some international sports club now.
In his recent fb pics he has completely shaved off his head.

His fiance might be from a royal family but all his exes were better looking. She’s not exactly pretty, not to be mean.

Patty was smiling in all the pics but he didn’t exactly look in love. His skin looked very dry and dull. And there wasn’t much sparkle in his eyes.

He got money and status. But not the girl of his dreams.

Patty was always kind and affectionate towards me….even after breaking up with Bitty. But I don’t think he’s very happy in life now. I was so fond of both of them that sometimes I miss those moments in our school playground.

No one’ll call Patty handsome now. Bitty is actually dating a very handsome Hungarian guy  😉

The way my old friends changed after that time, I never made any ‘Best Friend’ since then. I am friends with everyone, helpful, supportive but never involved.

Our school has produced a lot of engineers, doctors, politicians, sports persons, filmstars, serial stars, models…..but a royal son-in-law is a first. 😉

Lets hope he stays a loyal son-in-law as well.
